Hyosung, selected as the Excellent Enterprise for Social Contribution to Cultural Heritage2021.11.30
Hyosung was selected as the Excellent Enterprise for Social Contribution to Cultural Heritage at the 2021 Social Contribution Conference for Cultural Heritage hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration.
Since 2018, Hyosung has been striving to preserve beautiful old palaces as a Cultural Heritage Guardian commissioned by the Cultural Heritage Administration. Hyosung was selected as the Excellent Enterprise for Social Contribution to Cultural Heritage this year in recognition of its contribution by completing the project to restore the lighting and interior of Heejeongdang and Daejojeon Hall in Changdeokgung Palace. Together with Areumjigi Foundation, Hyosung has strived to restore the neglected modern lighting fixtures and reproduce the space in the palace.
Admission to the interior of Heejeongdang had been normally restricted. However, after the restoration program by Hyosung and the Cultural Heritage Administration in October 2018, it was opened to the public for the first time in 2019 and received favorable reviews from visitors. Moreover, Hyosung′s employees and their families have regularly volunteered to clean up the Changdeokgung Palace environment since 2006.
Hyosung has strived to fulfill its social responsibility as a Cultural Heritage Guardian under the interest of its Chairman Cho Hyun-joon in cultural properties. With a keen interest in preserving cultural heritage, Hyosung′s CEO Cho Hyun-Jun has taken the lead in cultural heritage-related Mecenat activities while serving as an executive member of the Areumjigi Foundation, an organization for protecting cultural properties.
