These efforts led Hyosung Chemical to independently develop polyketone as an environmentally friendly engineering plastic in 2013. Due to the climate crisis, polyketone is highly valued in the eco-friendly market because it emits less CO2 emissions during production compared to other materials and exhibits outstanding properties that enhance energy efficiency during manufacturing. Polyketone exhibits exceptional impact resistance, chemical resistance, and abrasion resistance. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and numerous domestic and international certification bodies have certified it as a human-safe material, which makes it suitable for use in tableware, children's toys, and medical components. As part of its strategy to reduce carbon emissions and expand applications, Hyosung Chemical plans to increase polyketone production.Hyosung Chemical's forward-looking eco-friendly technology encompasses PCR PP, a product born from the PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) technology. PCR PP is a material created through the recycling of plastic that has been used and discarded by end consumers. Currently, Hyosung Chemical's PCR PP has undergone development and is on the verge of commercialization. The Jamsil Sports Complex has recently decided to replace disposable containers with PCR PP containers. The European Union requires recycling at least 50% of plastic packaging waste. As a result, the PCR market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of approximately 6%. Hyosung Chemical uses by-product hydrogen generated during polypropylene production, a vital plastic raw material, to supply liquid hydrogen Hyosung Chemical will expand its by-product hydrogen production capacity to 12,000 tons annually with the imminent completion of its world's largest liquid hydrogen plant A joint venture between Hyosung Heavy Industries and Linde Group will supply the liquid hydrogen produced at the plant to hydrogen fueling stations to speed up the commercialization of hydrogen-powered vehicles.Hyosung Chemical has achieved notable success in developing and commercializing membrane water treatment system technology, offering a solution to address the climate crisis and combat food and water shortages. The climate crisis, often called climate change, profoundly impacts our lives and the global environment, evident in the rise of extreme weather events like recurring droughts and heavy rainfall. Hyosung Chemical has introduced membrane water treatment system technology to tackle this challenge. The term "membrane" refers to a thin, flexible sheet of material that acts as a barrier or lining. In water treatment systems, membranes selectively allow desired substances to pass through while effectively filtering out other substances. These water treatment systems utilize hollow fibers equipped with filtration holes as small as 0.03 microns for the filtration process. By implementing of the membrane water treatment system, the hollow fiber separator can achieve over 99.99% removal of turbid contaminants, coliforms, and pathogenic protozoa, significantly contributing to the provision of safe drinking water. Furthermore, since 2013, we have begun developing immersion water treatment technology, employing a precision filtration membrane in highly contaminated water for efficient filtration. In 2013, we began developing submerged water treatment technology, a method of filtering highly contaminated water by submerging a microfiltration membrane in it, and have since obtained certifications for new membrane environmental technologies such as pressurized membrane filtration, water treatment technology and a two-stage submerged water treatment system.
